Foxfire 2023 Program comes to an end.

The Foxfire empowerment program for 2023 came to an end and the team head to campus. This is after spending about 7 months at African Evangelistic Enterprise Kenya. It was incredible to hear their experiences. We are proud to learn that they have grown both spiritually and improved in their gifting and talents, some of them have got to learn they have abilities they never knew they had. God has truly used them in different churches, schools and  communities to bring hope.

“I have been attending St Matthews Church since April and it has been a challenge because there is a huge disparity between my home church and the church. From the order of the services, the duration, the mannerisms in that they stand a lot was a bit hard for me to adjust to. To be honest I was pretty closed off to the church and I had a bad review of it after the first service. The second time I went with a negative attitude because I thought the church was boring but I prayed to God to help me and to open my heart to be able to serve him from a place of openness.

I started serving in the praise and worship team and I was also in the youth church and every Sunday we would go through a book in the bible and pick up nuggets from it. I have been going for practice on Saturdays and serving on Sundays and while it has had its challenges, I appreciate the opportunity to serve. I loved the revivals that were done every 3rd week of the month and the celebration of people’s birthdays.

I learnt that all churches have different ways of doing their services and if you are so used to a particular way, you will not get anything from the teachings in the church. I am glad to have been able to minister and use my talents in the church and learn about the bible with the young people.” Florence Achieng 2023 Foxfire.

“I aspire to be an entrepreneur in the near future and at the moment, I sell sandals at different prices depending on a persons’ choice. It has not been bad neither has it been that well.  During the various trainings we have had concerning finances such as saving, budgeting and entrepreneurship, from Mr and Mrs Njenga who happen to be my mentors has really contributed a lot in bringing my dream into a reality.

I started with a capital of 2000 that was my savings from the stipend we are given. And sold one pair to a colleague and another person showed interest and I realised that, that could be a business and so I ordered 9 pairs when I went home during break. My parents also supported my idea and helped me raise some capital to buy the 9 pairs. So far, I have made 2 purchases and through that, I have made a profit of 3,500 and 4,500 kenya shillings.

I am grateful for AEE and the Foxfires program for the practical knowledge. I am also grateful to my mentors for helping me tap into this opportunity and to my supervisors too; Caroline Mutheu and Millicent Wanjiru for supporting me. May God bless all of you.”  Agape, Foxfire 2023.

Our Prayer is that the Lord who started a good work in the lives of these foxfire will bring it into establishment.
