God loves those abled differently.
Grace Ireri has been a missioner for several years, but Nakuru Citywide Mission 2025 marks her first mission with African Evangelistic Enterprise (AEE) Kenya. She arrived in Nakuru on Thursday, 15th May, filled with anticipation about what God would do over the coming ten days. Yet, alongside the excitement was a quiet fear how would her fellow missioners and hosts perceive her, especially because of her physical appearance? But those fears were quickly dispelled.
“When I arrived in Nakuru, I knew I had come to serve the Lord,” she shared. “But there’s always that lingering fear will people treat me differently or marginalize me because of how I look? Thankfully, I was connected to a friend who lives here, and I was ultimately hosted by someone from Kingdom Seekers Fellowship.
Grace’s heart beats for children and school ministry. Her strength and resolve shine brightest when she’s sharing the love of Christ with young people. “From the moment the mission began in earnest, I’ve been seeking every opportunity to visit schools,” she said. “Growing up, I faced challenges trying to fit in and be like the other kids but that wasn’t my path. I thank God for my parents. They never let me feel less than I was created to be. Their support helped me embrace who I am, and that journey eventually led me to Christ. It is through Him that I’ve grown into my calling ministering to the differently abled.”
Grace is uniquely positioned to reach those who often feel unseen. “Because of my own journey, I’m able to connect with differently abled students in a way others might not. The other day, we visited a school in Nakuru, and when I stood to speak, I noticed a few students with special needs in the room. I could see it in their eyes they felt seen, maybe for the first time. Perhaps they had never seen someone who looked like them take the stage, command attention, and speak with boldness. I could feel them connect with the message more deeply than their peers. That’s my ministry.”
